Hon. Shisir Khanal assumed office as the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal on 27 March 2026. He is an elected Member of the House of Representatives, representing the constituency of Kathmandu-6.

Previously, he served as Minister for Education, Science and Technology (2023). During his parliamentary term (2022–2025), he was a member of the International Relations and Tourism Committee and the Parliamentary Investigation Special Committee on Misuse of Cooperative Savings.

Social impact & global leadership: Minister Khanal co-founded Teach for Nepal and served as its CEO (2012–2019). He also held roles as Executive Director of Sarvodaya USA (2005–2013) and Honorary Associate at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and Education Advisor to Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City.

Education: He holds a Master’s in International Public Affairs from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a BA in International Political Economy & Diplomacy from the University of Bridgeport, USA.

Vision & diplomacy: As Head of the Foreign Relations Department and Central Secretariat Member of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, he continues to advance Nepal's foreign policy, economic diplomacy, and global partnerships.

Personal: Honourable Minister Mr. Shisir Khanal is married and has one child. He has authored multiple articles on diplomacy, education, and governance in international journals.
