Political Relations
The diplomatic relations between Nepal and the Republic of Malta was established on 25 September 1983. The relations between the two countries have been marked by cordiality and friendship. The Embassy of Nepal in Madrid is concurrently accredited to Malta and the Embassy of Malta in New Delhi is concurrently accredited to Nepal. Malta has established its Honorary Consulate in Kathmandu.
Exchange of Visits
There have been no high-level bilateral visits between Nepal and Malta as yet. Contacts between the two countries primarily take place in the international forums such as in the United Nations.

People-to-People Exchanges

In recent years, Malta has become a preferred destination for Nepali youths to study and work there, especially in hospitality industry. They are serving as an important link to strengthen the people-to-people contacts.

As of November 2025, Nepali migrant workers represented the second-largest group of Third Country Nationals (non-EU workers) in Malta, accounting for 16% of the non-EU workforce, which is around 13,000.
