The Government of Nepal expresses its profound sorrow over the devastating magnitude 7.0 earthquake that struck the northern part of the Xizang Autonomous Region (XAR) of the People’s Republic of China on 22 October 2026, resulting in the deaths of 16 people, injuries to several dozen others, and extensive damage to property and infrastructure.
The Government of Nepal extends its heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of the People’s Republic of China, especially to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones in this tragic disaster. Nepal wishes a speedy recovery to those injured and expresses its sympathy with all those affected by the disaster.
Nepal stands in solidarity with China during this difficult time and extends its sincere wishes for a swift response and the early recovery and rehabilitation of the affected families and communities.
