Press Release on Official Engagements of the Vice President of Viet Nam in Nepal

Right Hon’ble Vice President of Nepal, Mr. Ramsahay Prasad Yadav held a courtesy meeting with Her Excellency Madam Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, in Kathmandu today.

Following the courtesy meeting, the two vice presidents led the respective delegation for a bilateral meeting. The two leaders reviewed the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two countries. They expressed satisfaction at the excellent state of relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1975, and underlined the significance of the year 2025 as it marks the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations.

Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining high-level exchanges as well as regular interactions between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs. In this context, they agreed on convening the first meeting of the Bilateral Consultation Mechanism at an early date.

The two leaders also discussed ways to enhance trade, investment, and connectivity, including the possibilities of a direct Air link between Nepal and Viet Nam. They highlighted the potential for cooperation in tourism and cultural exchanges, with Buddhism serving as a spiritual and cultural bridge connecting the peoples of the two countries. 

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhance people-to-people relations and to work together to further deepen and diversify the multifaceted partnership between Nepal and Viet Nam in the days to come. 

A luncheon was hosted in honour of Her Excellency the Vice President of Viet Nam by the Right Hon’ble Vice President of Nepal. Hon’ble Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba and senior officers from both Nepal and Viet Nam also attended the luncheon. 

In the afternoon, Right Hon’ble Prime Minister of Nepal, Mr. K.P. Sharma Oli held a courtesy meeting with Her Excellency Vice President Madam Vo Thi Anh Xuan at Singha Durbar. The meeting focused on expanding economic cooperation, expediting the conclusion of the Bilateral Trade and Investment Framework Agreement, strengthening collaboration in regional and multilateral forums, and working together for peace and prosperity in both the countries.
