Right Honourable Prime Minister Mr. K P Sharma Oli addressed the ‘High-level Thematic Round Table 4: Building Sustainable Infrastructure, Strengthening Connectivity, and Promoting Unfettered Transit Systems for Landlocked Developing Countries’ at the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3) this morning.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister emphasized that addressing structural challenges and vulnerabilities faced by LLDCs requires investment in integrated and climate-resilient infrastructure that enhances regional connectivity. He also underlined that Nepal is actively working to expand and strengthen cross-border linkages to facilitate smooth and uninterrupted transit and trade.
In the afternoon, the Prime Minister delivered the keynote address at the side event “Glacial Melt and Beyond: Unravelling the Climate Challenges Impacting LLDCs”. In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted that with concrete and concerted actions we could save our Himalayas as well as lives and livelihoods.
On the sidelines of the Conference, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister held a meeting with the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Mr. Jin Liqun. Matters related to enhancing cooperation for the development of Nepal were discussed during the meeting.
Foreign Secretary Mr. Amrit Bahadur Rai held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Charles C. Jose, Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and International Economic Relations at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) of the Philippines on the sidelines of the Conference. Matters related to promoting cooperation between the two countries were discussed during the meeting.
