On the happy occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the People’s Republic of China, congratulatory messages have been exchanged between high-level dignitaries of the two countries today.
The Right Honourable President Mr. Ramchandra Paudel, in his message to His Excellency Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, has extended warm congratulations and best wishes to the latter and through him to the Government and the people of China.
Highlighting the time-tested friendship between the two countries grounded in mutual trust, sovereign equality and peaceful coexistence, The Right Honourable President has expressed willingness to work together with China to realize the shared vision of peace, progress and prosperity. He further underlined the need to deepening cooperation, advancing greater linkages and broadening collaboration in various realms of mutual interest.
His Excellency Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, in his message to the President of Nepal, has extended his sincere congratulations and best wishes to the President as well as the Government and the people of Nepal. Stating that China and Nepal are neighbours linked by mountains and rivers and enjoying a long history of friendly exchanges, he has said that the two countries are always mutually respected, equally treated and bilaterally cooperative, setting a model of friendly coexistence between countries with different social systems and sizes. Mentioning the healthy and steady development of China-Nepal relations in recent years, increasing mutual political trust, the joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative and cooperation in various fields, and deepening China-Nepal Strategic Partnership of Cooperation Featuring Ever-lasting Friendship for Development and Prosperity, he has emphasized the need for collaboration between the two sides to carry forward traditional friendship, strengthen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, promote China-Nepal relations to better benefit the peoples of both countries, and contribute to regional peace and development.
Similarly, The Right Honourable Prime Minister Mr. K P Sharma Oli, in his message to President of the People’s Republic of China His Excellency Mr. Xi Jinping, has extended warm greetings and best wishes to the President, the Government and the friendly people of China. He has mentioned that Nepal-China relations, rooted in the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, have been trouble-free over the seven decades. Stating that Nepal adheres to the One China Principle and China has always respected our sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence, the Prime Minister has said that Nepal deeply values its long-standing and time-tested ties with China, a close neighbour and trusted development partner.
Fondly recalling the historic state visit of the President of China to Nepal in October 2019 as well his own three official visits to China, the Prime Minister has highlighted the instrumental role of regular exchange of high-level visits in further strengthening political trust and renewing shared priority to advancing cooperation in the areas of cross-border connectivity, infrastructure, trade and transit, disaster preparedness, agriculture, health and green energy, among others. He has also expressed commitment of the Nepali side to implementing bilateral understanding and agreements reached in the past to generate real benefit for both peoples.
The Prime Minister has also expressed his admiration and happiness over China’s unprecedented achievements made under the visionary leadership of the President of China which have not only transformed the lives of the Chinese people but also contributed to regional peace and prosperity and offered opportunities to Nepal to realize its national aspiration of “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali”. He has further expressed his willingness to continue engagements between the two countries as good neighbours, trusted friends and development partners.
In a separate congratulatory message to His Excellency Mr. Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, The Right Honourable Prime Minister Mr. K P Sharma Oli has extended warm greetings and sincere felicitations to the Premier, the Government and the friendly people of China. The Prime Minister has highlighted the close and friendly relationship between the two countries that has been founded upon shared experiences and mutually beneficial cooperation, rooted in Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, guided by the spirit of good neighborliness and enriched by mutual trust and respect. The Prime Minister has commended China for its remarkable strides in pursuit of national rejuvenation and modernization and emphasized the need to further promote cooperation between Nepal and China that is mutually rewarding.
Similarly, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China His Excellency Mr. Li Qiang, in his congratulatory message to The Right Honourable Prime Minister Mr. K P Sharma Oli, has extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes. Mentioning that China-Nepal relations have maintained sound and steady growth and cooperation in various areas since the establishment of diplomatic relations and brought benefits to the peoples of the two countries, he has said that China stands ready to work with Nepal, accelerating high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and other cooperation in various fields, constantly advancing the progress in China-Nepal Strategic Partnership of Cooperation Featuring Ever-lasting Friendship for Development and Prosperity.
Likewise, Minister for Foreign Affairs Honourable Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, in a message, has extended warm greetings and felicitations to His Excellency Mr. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, and to the friendly people of China. Highlighting the ecological, cultural, social, political and developmental ties between the two countries, the Foreign Minister has appreciated China for its support in Nepal’s development endeavours. She has also expressed willingness to strengthening cooperation with China in mutually beneficial areas including in building resilience against transboundary climate threats.
Similarly, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China His Excellency Mr. Wang Yi, in a message, has extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal.
Mentioning about the long-standing and deeply rooted traditional friendship between China and Nepal, he has stated that the two sides have upheld the
Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, carried out exchanges and cooperation across all fields on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, and extended mutual understanding and support to each other on international and regional affairs. He has also expressed willingness to work with the Foreign Minister of Nepal to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and to make unremitting efforts to deepen China-Nepal Strategic Partnership of Cooperation Featuring Ever-lasting Friendship for Development and Prosperity.
The diplomatic relations between Nepal and the People’s Republic of China were established on 1 August 1955.
