Press Release on The Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Engagements in New Delhi

The Rt. Hon’ble Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Prime Minister of Nepal, and His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, held bilateral delegation level talks in New Delhi today. During the meeting, the two Prime Ministers discussed various aspects of Nepal-India relations and cooperation in different areas including water resources, infrastructure, trade and transit, among others. Contents of the discussion were made public through the joint press briefing by the two Prime Ministers at Hydrabad House following their talks. A 25 point Joint Statement has been issued.

The two Prime Ministers witnessed the exchange of three agreements: Agreement on Line of Credit for Reconstruction projects, Amendatory Agreement on Line of Credit and MoU on consultant services for Postal roads.

The Prime Minister of India hosted a Luncheon in honour of The Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister and his delegation.

Earlier in the morning, The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister was accorded a Ceremonial Reception at the Forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan, where he was received by His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India. During the ceremony, The Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister inspected the Guard of Honour. He paid homage at the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat and signed the visitor’s book.

Also today, Her Excellency Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Minister of External Affairs of India, called on The Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister at the Rastrapati Bhawan. Likewise, His Excellency Mr. Arun Jaitley, Minister of Finance, and His Excellency Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of New and Renewal Energy, Mines, Power, Coal, Government of India also paid separate call on The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in the afternoon.

Later in the evening, The Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister paid a call on His Excellency Shri Pranab Mukherjee, the President of India, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister addressed a joint business event hosted by ASSOCHAM this evening.

The Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Nathpa Jhakri hydropower project in Himanchal Pradesh tomorrow.
