Press Release regarding Hon. Foreign Minister’s engagements during the 76th session of the UNGA

On the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly today, the Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Dr. Narayan Khadka had a bilateral meeting with H.E. A.K. Abdul Momen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bangladesh. During the meeting, the two Ministers exchanged views on promoting bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation. Discussion was focused on the need for enhanced collaboration in the areas of trade, investment, hydropower development and cross-border energy trade among others. Both leaders acknowledged the importance of excellent people-to-people relations existing between the two countries. Both the Ministers agreed to speed up implementation of past agreements and enhance further cooperation in the areas of mutual benefit.

Earlier today, the Foreign Minister had a meeting with His Excellency Mr. Abdulla Shahid, President of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. During the meeting, Hon. Minister Dr. Khadka discussed the priorities of Nepal at the United Nations including international peace, security, development, human rights, UN peacekeeping operations and special support to LDCs among others. The President of the Assembly H.E. Mr. Shahid appreciated Nepal’s support to his presidency and outlined his priorities in the United Nations during his presidency of hope. Hon. Foreign Minister reiterated Nepal’s full support to the President in discharge of his duties.

Later in the evening, Ambassador/Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations H.E. Mr. Amrit Bahadur Rai, at his official residence, hosted a dinner in honour of the Hon. Foreign Minister and visiting delegation.
