Press Release on the visit of the Rt. Hon’ble Vice President


PRESS RELEASE

The Rt. Hon’ble Mr. Nanda Bahadur Pun, Vice President of Nepal and his delegation returned home today after completing a six-day official visit to the People’s Republic of China. He had left Nepal leading the delegation for the visit on 19 September 2018.

During the visit, the Rt. Hon’ble Vice President delivered keynote speeches at the Opening Ceremony of the 17th Western China International Fair (WCIF) and the Belt and Road Cooperation Development Conference on Business Community of Shared Future organized on the theme “Sharing , Making Progress Together” held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province on 20 September 2018. On these occasions, he requested Chinese and other foreign investors to invest in Nepal in the areas of energy, physical infrastructure, agriculture, and tourism industry, among others. He also requested the Chinese travel tour operators/entrepreneurs to make the Visit Nepal Year 2020 successful.

H.E. Mr. Hu Chunhua, Vice Premier of China met with the Rt. Hon’ble Vice President. H.E. Mr. Peng Qinghua, Secretary of the China Communist Party Sichuan Province and other leaders of the Party also met with the Vice President. In all these meetings, various aspects of Nepal-China relations were figured, including the exchange of high-level visits, implementation of agreements and understandings reached with China, cross-border connectivity, cultural exchanges, people-to-people relations, promotion of investment, and tourism.

The Vice President paid visits to the site of Post-Disaster Reconstruction and places of historical, cultural, agricultural, educational, commercial importance in the Sichuan Province including Jiulong Community at Dujiangyan, Sichuan University of Science and Engineering, Yibin Port, Bamboo Forest (Sea), Museum of Modern Chinese Architecture and Medicine School of Tongji University. He also visited the historic city of Leshan.
