Press Release on The Rt. Hon. President’s address to the NRN event in Warsaw, Poland

The Rt. Hon. President Mrs. Bidya Devi Bhandari attended a felicitation and welcome ceremony hosted by the Embassy of Nepal in Berlin, which is also concurrently accredited to the Republic of Poland, and Non-Resident Nepali Association, Poland in Warsaw today.

On the occasion, the Rt. Hon. President addressed the NRN community residing in Poland and those coming from different parts of Europe. The President highlighted on the brain-gain trend that is seen in Nepal in recent times and called upon the Nepali diaspora to contribute for the development of Nepal through knowledge, skills and investment. Rt. Hon. President highlighted the conducive atmosphere created for investment in different sectors of economy in Nepal and invited Nepali community to benefit from investment and technology transfer. The President invited for contributing to the prosperity agenda of Nepal by all wherever they are living.

The Rt. Hon. President highlighted Nepali diaspora’s continued attachment to Nepal and called them as ‘honorary ambassadors’ of Nepal. The event coincided with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Nepal-Poland relations. The President expressed the hope that the friend relations between Nepal and Poland would be further strengthened in the years to come.

The Rt. Hon. President also underlined the importance of climate change conference to the countries like Nepal and added that this high level participation reflects the priority attached by Nepal to this issue.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Forest and Environment, Hon. Shakti Bahadur Basnet stated that Nepal continues to remember Nepali diaspora and has made provision of NRN citizenship in the Constitution. He invited Nepali diaspora to understand the new changes and context of Nepal and underlined Nepal’s expectation from them to contribute for the national motto of ‘Prosperous Nepal and Happy Nepali’.

The program was followed by a Nepali cultural performance and luncheon hosted in honour of the Rt. Hon. President.

Members of Parliament, and other senior members of Nepali delegation were present during the event. Also present were the Polish friends of Nepal, mountaineers and those who have involved in different social services in Nepal.
