Press Release on the official visit of the Rt. Hon. Mr. Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Chairman of the National Assembly of Nepal to the Republic of Korea

At the invitation of Korea Foundation, the Rt. Hon’ble Mr. Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Chairman of the National Assembly, Federal Parliament of Nepal paid an official visit to the Republic of Korea from 3-6 September 2019. He was accompanied by his spouse Mrs. Binita Kumari Paudel. Other members of the delegation were Hon. Khem Raj Nepali, Member of National Assembly, Federal Parliament and Mr. Udbir Nepali, Under Secretary, Government of Nepal.

During the visit, Rt. Hon’ble Chairman Mr. Ganesh Prasad Timilsina held meetings with Rt. Hon’ble Mr. Moon Hee-sang, Speaker, National Assembly, Republic of Korea, Hon’ble Ms. Lee Mikyung, President of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Mr. Cho Sei-young, Vice Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, separately.

Similarly, Rt. Hon’ble Chairman Mr. Ganesh Prasad Timilsina attended luncheon meeting hosted by Hon’ble Mr. Joo Seungyong, Deputy Speaker and President, Korea-Nepal Parliamentary Friendship Group and H.E. Ambassador Lee Sihyung, President, the Korea Foundation, separately.

During the meetings, matters related to enhancing bilateral relations, further strengthening cooperation between the two countries in areas such as tourism, energy, trade, labour, agriculture, education, infrastructure, parliamentary affairs etc. were discussed. Rt. Hon’ble Chairman Mr. Timilsina underscored the importance of exchange of high level visit like this to further deepen and widen the mutual cooperation between Nepal and the Republic of Korea. He also requested for more support of the Government of the Republic of Korea in the development of Nepal.

Rt. Hon’ble Chairman Mr. Timilsina invited Rt. Hon’ble Speaker Mr. Moon Hee-sang and KOICA Chairman Hon’ble Ms. Lee Mikyung to visit Nepal at any convenient dates. Both of them have agreed to visit Nepal in due time.

All the dignitaries from the Korean side expressed their pleasure and happiness in welcoming and having meetings with Rt. Hon’ble Chairman Mr. Ganesh Prasad Timilsina and his delegation. All of them in equal voice said that Republic of Korea has accorded high priority in its relations with Nepal and wanted to engage in all development aspects of Nepal.

Mr. Ram Singh Thapa, Charge d’ Affaires a.i. and Mr. Uddav Neupane, First Secretary of the Embassy of Nepal were present during the meetings.

Rt. Hon’ble Chairman Mr. Ganesh Prasad Timilsina and his delegation left Seoul on 9 September 2019.
