Press Release on the message of condolences by the Rt. Hon. President and the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister on the loss of lives in Sri Lanka due to flooding and landslides

Rt. Hon. President Mrs. Bidya Devi Bhandari and Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ today sent separate message of condolences to His Excellency Mr. Maithripala Sirisena, President, and His Excellency Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, respectively on the loss of lives in the southern and western parts of Sri Lanka due to flooding and landslides triggered by heavy monsoon rains in recent days.

In their messages, the Rt. Hon. President and the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister have, on behalf of the Government and people of Nepal, and on their own, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended heartfelt condolences and sympathies to their respective Sri Lankan counterparts, and through them to the Government and the friendly people of Sri Lanka and the bereaved and affected families.

They have also wished for an early recovery from the flood situation and resumption of normal life in the affected areas.
