The second meeting of Nepal-Poland Bilateral Consultations Mechanism was held today through videoconference. The meeting discussed a wide range of matters relating to bilateral relations and cooperation.

The two sides exchanged views on recent developments in both the countries. They stressed the importance of the exchange of high-level visits, while encouraging economic partnerships including in bilateral trade, investment, technology transfer and tourism sectors. In the context of increasing Nepali diaspora in Poland, the two sides also discussed people to people contacts, cultural and educational cooperation and potential employment opportunities.

Both sides underscored the importance of cooperation at regional and multilateral levels on common agendas such as SDGs, climate change, UN peacekeeping and disarmament. Views were also shared on regional cooperation and the challenges posed by COVID-19.

Mr. Nirmal Raj Kafle, Joint Secretary of Europe and the Americas Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Witold Sobkow, Director of Asia and Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland led their respective delegations to the consultations.
