Press Release on Rt. Hon. Prime Minister’s State Visit to India

Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. K. P. Sharma Oli is paying a State Visit to India from 19 to 24 February 2016 at the friendly invitation of His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India. He will be accompanied by his spouse Mrs. Radhika Shakya. The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister will be staying at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi as the State Guest.

Hon’ble Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Kamal Thapa, Hon’ble Minister for Finance Mr. Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Hon’ble Minister for Home Affairs Mr. Shakti Bahadur Basnet, and Chief Advisor to the Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Bishnu Prasad Rimal will accompany the Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister. Similarly the CEO of National Reconstruction Authority, Hon’ble Members of the Legislature-Parliament, Chief Secretary to the Government of Nepal and Secretaries and other high officials from different Ministries of the Government of Nepal, media persons and representatives of business community will also accompany the Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister.

Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister will attend a reception to be hosted by Ambassador of Nepal to India His Excellency Mr. Deep Kumar Upadhyaya to mark the 66th National Democracy Day at the Embassy of Nepal, New Delhi, on 19 February 2016.

On 20 February 2016, the Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister will attend the Ceremonial Reception and inspect a Guard of Honour at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. He will then pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. On the same day, Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister Oli will hold official meeting on matters of mutual interests with His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, at Hyderabad House. Following the meeting, His Excellency Shri Modi will host a luncheon in hohonur of the Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister of Nepal.

While in New Delhi, the Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister will pay calls on His Excellency Shri Pranab Mukherjee, President, and His Excellency Shri Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Vice President of India. Some senior members of the Government of India too will call on the Rt. Ho’ble Prime Minister. Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister Oli is also scheduled to address the Indian Council of World Affairs at Sapru House and a function of the Indian business community. Similarly, he will have an interaction programme with prominent Indian media and Nepalese community.

Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. K. P. Sharma Oli will inspect Tehri Hydropower Project site in Uttarakhand and will also visit Bhuj in Gujarat, and will get acquainted with the post-earthquake reconstruction works there. He will also meet some business leaders in Mumbai in Maharashtra.

He will return home from Mumbai on 24 February 2016.
