Press Release on Right Honourable Vice President’s Visit to Vienna, Austria

Vice President, the Rt. Hon. Mr. Nanda Bahadur Pun will visit Vienna, Austria at the invitation of the Federal President of Austria, H.E. Mr. Alexander Van der Bellen, to attend the R20 Austrian World Summit being held in Vienna on 28 May 2019. The Summit is dedicated to climate action. Minister for Forest and Environment Hon. Mr. Shakti Bahadur Basnet will accompany the Vice President during the visit.

On 27 May 2019, the Vice President will attend the 40th Anniversary Celebration of Vienna International Centre, the hub of multilateral diplomacy in Vienna. In the evening, he will attend the reception being hosted by Austrian Federal Chancellor H.E. Mr. Sebastian Kurz in honour of the visiting Presidents, Vice Presidents, Prime Ministers and heads of delegations.

On the 28th of May, the Rt. Hon. Vice President will speak at a panel on climate action at the R20 Austrian World Summit. The panel will consist of Heads of State and Government from different countries. Then the Vice President will join the official luncheon being hosted by the Austrian Federal President in honor of the visiting Presidents, Vice Presidents and heads of delegation to be followed by High Level Round Table Discussion Chaired by him. In the evening, Ambassador/Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations Office in Vienna H.E. Mr. Prakash Kumar Suvedi will host dinner in honour of the Vice President.

Also while in Austria, the Rt. Hon. Vice President will visit the International Mount Everest Day celebration being held in Innsbruck on 29 May 2019 and address the event there. The Governor of Innsbruck Region will pay courtesy call on the Vice President on 30 May 2019.

The Rt. Hon. Vice President will return to Nepal on 31 May 2019.

The delegation will also include spouse of the Vice President Mrs. Hastamali Pun, senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Forest and Environment.
