Press Release on Right Honourable Prime Minister’s Visit to Cambodia

The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Mr. K. P. Sharma Oli reached Phnom Penh, the capital city of the Kingdom of Cambodia, this afternoon.

Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister was accorded a warm welcome by H.E. Mr. Say Sam Al, Minister for Environment of Cambodia, H.E. Mrs. Eat Sophea, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Mr. Ung Sean, Ambassador of Cambodia to Nepal, and other high-ranking officials of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

This afternoon, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister went to the Independence Monument, and laid wreath and paid tribute to national heroes and heroines of Cambodia. From there, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister went to the memorial of Preah Borom Ratanak Kaudh, the Late Kin-Father, and paid tribute to His Late Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk.

Later in the afternoon, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister was accorded a warm official welcome by H. E. Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, the Prime Minister of Cambodia, at the Peace Palace.

Following the official welcome, the two Prime Ministers held bilateral official talks at the Peace Palace. Welcoming the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister, H.E. Prime Minister Hun Sen recalled his visit to Nepal in November 2018, and expressed the hope that this visit by the Prime Minister of Nepal would add another milestone in Nepal-Cambodia relations. The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister thanked the Cambodian Prime Minister for his invitation, and opined that such exchange of visit will contribute to strengthening the bilateral relations.

The two delegations, led by their respective Prime Minister, reviewed the whole gamut of Nepal-Cambodia relations and vowed to work hard to expand and deepen them further.
After the officials talks, the two Prime Ministers witnessed the signing of the Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation, and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Cambodia Chamber of Commerce.

In the evening, H.E. the Prime Minister of Cambodia hosted an official Dinner in honour of the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister of Nepal.

During all these programmes, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister was accompanied by his spouse Mrs. Radhika Shakya, Hon. Foreign Minister Mr. Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Members of Parliament, senior office bearers of Government of Nepal, Nepal’s Ambassador to Cambodia Dr. Khaga Nath Adhikari, business community and other members of the delegation.
