Press Release on National Day Celebration in Guangzhou

On the occasion of the fourth anniversary of promulgation of the Constitution of Nepal, the Consulate General of Nepal in Guangzhou celebrated National Day Reception in Guangzhou.

In his welcome remarks, Mr. Kunjan Shah, Acting Consul General, recalled the establishment of the Consulate on 10th September 2017 and highlighted how its establishment in Guangzhou was important for facilitating socio-cultural and economic interaction of Nepali diaspora, and also the economic interaction of Nepal with Southern Provinces of China, the greater bay area and diplomatic relations with other Consulate Generals based in Guangzhou. He further remarked about the achievements of the Constitution, and also introduced about the diverse culture and geography of Nepal and how this has contributed to making Nepal a country worth visiting.

At the Reception, the Guest of Honor remarks was given by Mr. Deng Haiguang, Vice Chairperson of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. He stated that Nepal and China are connected by mountains and rivers and that both countries enjoy a perpetual friendship from generation to generation. He highlighted about the high level visits between the both countries. He also stated that Guangdong and Nepal continue to maintain collaborative relations and an everlasting partnership in trade cooperation and finally wished for China and Nepal prosperity, good health and the happiness to the people of China and Nepal.

The program was attended by senior leaders from Guangdong Province, Consul Generals in Guangzhou, Chinese investors, media persons and Nepalese community. On the occasion, two Nepali cultural dances were also performed by Nepali students in Guangzhou. There was also a Lakhey dance performance by a renowned traditional dance performer Mr. Rajip Bajracharya who attended the Reception on invitation of the Consulate and contributed to promotion for Visit Nepal 2020 through his voluntary effort to demonstrate Nepali Culture.
