Press Release on Hon. Foreign Minister’s Meeting with the President of China Association for Friendship (CAF)

Hon. Mr. Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Minister for Foreign Affairs, received Mr. Chen Zemin, President of China Association for Friendship (CAF) and committee member of China People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) at the Embassy of Nepal, Beijing today.

Matters of bilateral relations and economic cooperation between Nepal and China figured during the meeting.

Hon. Foreign Minister thanked the Government of the People’s Republic China for its support and cooperation in Nepal’s socio-economic development.

During the meeting, Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs highlighted the five priority areas of development- namely Connectivity, Energy, Tourism, Agricultural Development and Science, Technology and Communication of the Government of Nepal in its development efforts.

Hon Minister for Foreign Affairs also emphasized on the role of people to people relations and cultural exchanges in further strengthening bilateral relations.

While sincerely appreciating the able leadership of President Xi Jinping for the tremendous progress of the People’s Republic of China has made over the years, Hon. Foreign Minister shared the development motto of the Government of Nepal “Prosperous Nepal : Happy Nepali” under Prime KP Sharma Oli and also hoped for the continued and enhanced level of cooperation from China to the Government of Nepal.

Hon. Foreign Minister also assured that Nepal has always maintained One China policy in its foreign policy and not letting any anti-China activities in its soil.

Mr Chen Zhimin expressed happiness for the opportunity to meet with Hon. Foreign Minister and said “we believe that Nepal will make rapid economic progress with solid foundation for development as the inside politics of Nepal has been stable.”

Mr Chen Zhimin thanked the Government of Nepal for its consistent One China policy.

Mr. Chen expressed belief that Nepal-China relations will grow to newer heights after the visit of Prime Minister of Nepal to China in near future. He assured the strong support of the Government of China to Nepal’s development endeavors.

HE Leela Mani Paudel, Ambassador of Nepal to China was present during the Meeting.

Hon. Foreign Minister is in Beijing en route to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to attend the Intergovernmental Meeting of the International Think Tank for the LLDCs to be held on 11-12 June 2018.
