Bilateral Consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Nepal and Russian Federation were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kathmandu this afternoon.
Head of Europe America Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, Joint Secretary, Mr. Ghanshyam Bhandari and Director of the Second Department for Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation H.E. Mr. Zamir Kabulov led their respective delegations in the Consultations.
During the Consultations, the overall state of bilateral relations between Nepal and the Russian Federation was reviewed. The two sides particularly focused on the need of enhancing cooperation in areas of trade, investment, tourism, educational, cultural and technical cooperation, among others.
The Russian delegation consisted of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Nepal H.E. Mr. Andrei S. Budnik and other officials of the Embassy. The Nepali delegation included officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of Home Affairs; Ministry of Defense; Ministry of Education, Science and Technology; as well as Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation.
Following the Consultations, Mr. Kabulov had a meeting with Foreign Secretary, Mr. Shanker Das Bairagi at the latter’s office.
A Memorandum of Understanding establishing the mechanism on bilateral consultations between the two countries was signed in 1995.
