Press Release issued by Embassy of Nepal, Colombo on the Rt. Hon. President’s visit to Sri Lanka

The Rt. Honourable President Mrs. Bidya Devi Bhandari left Colombo for Kathmandu this afternoon upon completion of her four day Official Visit to Sri Lanka. She had a meeting with former President of Sri Lanka Madam Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga in Colombo today. Views upon empowerment of women, women’s participation in the social development and politics and issues of common concerns were discussed during the meeting.

The Right honorable President Mrs. Bidya Devi Bhandari attended breakfast meeting hosted by His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka Mr. Maithripala Sirisena in his official residence in Kandy on 15 May 2017.

She also participated in a program on Women Empowerment organized in her honor by Hon. Minister of Women and Child Affairs of Sri Lanka in Colombo the same day.

On 15 May 2017, the Rt. Hon. President Mrs. Bidya Devi Bhandari paid homage to the Keleniya Temple in Colombo which is believed to be visited by Gautam Buddha after attaining enlightenment.

The Right Honorable President Mrs. Bidya Devi Bhandari also participated in an Interaction Program with Nepalese Community and Dinner Reception hosted by Embassy of Nepal in Colombo on 15 May 2017 in her honor.
