The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) is concerned about the news story entitled “2 Ministries in Turf War over Meet Preps” published in The Kathmandu Post today. The attention of the Ministry is drawn particularly towards the statement about MoFA being “miffed at the Finance Ministry” concerning the preparations on the ‘International Conference on Nepal’s Reconstruction’ to be held on 25 June 2015.
The Ministry regrets to observe that the news is baseless and tries to expose a false ‘rift’ between two Ministries. The report about the lack of MoFA’sinvolvement in the Conference preparations is both fabricated and inauthentic. While Foreign Secretary is a member of the Conference Organizing Committee, a team of senior MoFA officials is deeply involved in the preparatory works. Both MoFA and Ministry of Finance have been well-coordinated on the matters related to the Conference.
MoFA attaches great importance to the Conference as it is a priority event being hosted by the Government of Nepal and remains committed to making it a huge success. The success of the Event will give a much-needed boost to our reconstruction and recovery works. For this, support and collaboration from all stakeholders including the media is critical. MoFA expects an enhanced and continued cooperation and collaboration from all towards this end.
