Press Release issued by Embassy of Nepal, Beijing on Call on to the Chinese President by Rt. Hon. Prime Minister of Nepal

Prime Minister of Nepal Rt. Hon’ble K.P. Sharma Oli called on H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing in the afternoon of 21 March 2016. During the meeting the two leaders extensively discussed and shared views on matters of bilateral relations and mutual cooperation.

While welcoming the Prime Minister and his delegation, the President stated that Nepal and China enjoyed excellent bilateral relations and assisted each other in difficult times. The promulgation of the constitution and formation of new government would create a base for economic development, harmony and progress in Nepal, said the President. Expressing his appreciation for the invitation to visit China, the Prime Minster stated that he was committed to further enhancing friendly ties with China.

While referring to the earlier meeting of the two Prime Ministers, the President reiterated the willingness to assist Nepal in further expanding trade and bridging the trade deficit, upgrading and expanding connectivity and promoting tourism as well as investment between the two countries.

Appreciating the invitation, the Chinese President expressed his willingness to visit Nepal at a mutually convenient date.

The two leaders shared that  the strict observance of the Five Principle of Peaceful Co-existence contributed to the development of healthy state of friendly relationship between the two countries and committed to respecting each other’s sensitivities and concerns.

Expressing happiness over China’s economic progress, the Prime Minister expressed the hope that Nepal could benefit from unprecedented economic transformation taking place in the neighborhood.

During the call on, the Prime Minister was accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ministers for Finance, Commerce and  Education as well as Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister, Chief Secretary, Foreign Secretary, Ambassador of Nepal to the People’s Republic of China, among others.
