Diplomatic Relations
Nepal and the Republic of Moldova established diplomatic relations on 20 July 1993. Relations between Nepal and Moldova are based on goodwill, friendship and mutual understanding. The Ambassador of Nepal to the Russian Federation is concurrently accredited to Moldova and the Ambassador of Moldovan resident in Tashkent, Uzbekistan is concurrently accredited to Nepal.
There have been contacts and cooperation between the two countries in the United Nations. Nepal and Moldova have worked together for common agendas such as issues relating to land-locked countries.
Trade and Investment
At present, trade, investment, tourism and other sectors of economic relations are almost non-existent. However, there are prospects to explore niche areas where the two countries could work together for mutual benefit. The bilateral trade structure for the past few years shows that Nepal imports some amount of machinery and goods, with export remaining nil.
