Nepal – Croatia Relations


Diplomatic relations
Nepal established diplomatic relations with the Republic of Croatia on February 6, 1998.  Nepal enjoys friendly relations with Croatia based on goodwill and respect for each other’s concerns and aspirations.  The Nepali Embassy in Switzerland is currently accredited to Croatia, and the Croatian Embassy in New Delhi is accredited to Nepal. Croatia has appointed an Honorary Consul in the consular district of Kathmandu.

Nepal and Croatia, having faith in the purposes and principles enshrined in the UN Charter, have cooperated with each other in international arena for the promotion of international peace and prosperity.

 

Exchange of visits/meetings
Right Honourable Mrs. Bidya Devi Bhandari, President of Nepal, met with her Croatian President Her Excellency Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic on the sidelines of 63rd Commission on the Status of Women on 12 March 2019 in New York.

Dr. Goran Granic, Deputy Prime Minister of Croatia visited Nepal from 23 to 25 November 2000.

 

Trade/Investment
The volume of trade between Nepal and Croatia is moderate. Some of the commodities imported by Nepal from the Republic of Croatia are prepared animal fodder, pharmaceutical products, vehicles and parts and accessories thereof, furniture, toys etc. Nepal exports carpets, clothing accessories, headgears and parts etc. to the Republic of Croatia.

As of July 2020, there were two companies operating with investment from Croatia worth Rs. 7.50 million, which supported generation of 59 jobs in Nepal.
