Press Release: Chinese Vice Premier pays courtesy calls on the Rt. Hon’ble President and Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister

H.E. Wang Yang, Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China paid a courtesy call on The Rt. Hon’ble Mrs. Bidya Devi Bhandari, President of Nepal at latter’s office today.

During the call on, the President expressed happiness over the excellent state of bilateral relations between Nepal and China. The President also expressed satisfaction over the ongoing mutual cooperation in various fields between the two countries.

Earlier today, the Vice Premier also paid a courtesy call on The Rt. Hon’ble Mr. Sher Bahadur Deuba, Prime Minister of Nepal at latter’s residence in Baluwatar.

The Prime Minister stated about the excellent state of bilateral relations subsisting between the two countries and growing economic engagements in various fields. He stressed the need of enhanced level of cooperation in the fields of trade, tourism, investment, infrastructure development, among others. The Prime Minister also reiterated the commitment of the Government of Nepal for the implementation of agreements reached between the two countries in the past.

In both calls, the Vice Premier appreciated Nepal’s One China Policy. He assured of continued Chinese support and cooperation to the socio-economic development efforts of Nepal.

The President and the Prime Minister thanked the Chinese Government for its assistance of US$ one million to the victims of recent natural disasters in Nepal and also requested to convey their sympathies and condolences to His Excellency President Xi Jinping and His Excellency Premier Li Keqiang of China on the loss of lives and properties in the recent earthquakes in Jiuzhalgou of Sichuan Province of China.

The Vice Premier visited the National Ayurved Research and Training Centre in Kirtipur today. Hon’ble Girirajmani Pokharel, Minister for Health and H.E. Mr. Leela Mani Paudyal, Ambassador of Nepal to China welcomed the Vice Premier at the Center. Senior officials of the Ministry of Health and the Centre presented the Vice Premier about the ongoing activities of the Centre and prospects of Nepal-China cooperation in health sector.

Vice Premier H.E. Wang Yang and his delegation will leave for China tomorrow morning.
