Rt. Honourable President Mrs. Bidya Devi Bhandari attended a programme in Bhubaneswar today on women empowerment organised by the Government of Odisha and Mission Shakti. While addressing the event the Rt. Honourable President appreciated the noble initiatives undertaken by the Government of Odisha for the promotion and protection of women rights and their empowerment. Highlighting the salient features enshrined in the Constitution of Nepal for the empowerment of women including representation at political level and other measures adopted by the Government of Nepal, she said that exchange of knowledge and experience and sharing of good practices would be vital for women empowerment programmes in the South Asian regional context.
The Rt. Honorable President, who is currently in Odisha as a part her ongoing State Visit to India, also visited Lingaraja temple in Bhubaneswar today. The Rt. Honorable President was called on by His Excellency Dr. Senayangba Chubatoshi Jamir, Governor of Odisha. She also attended a banquet hosted in her honour by the Governor of Odisha this evening. Chief Minister of Odisha His Excellency Shri Naveen Patnaik was also present besides other high ranking officials from both Nepal and India.
She had reached Bhubaneswar from Rajkot, Gujarat earlier today. Before her departure from Rajkot, she observed the production units of Rajkot District Co-op Milk Producers’ Union.
