Press Release issued by Permanent Mission of Nepal, Vienna regarding Seventh Conference of the States Parties (CoSP) to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC)

Mr. Rajib Gautam, Secretary, Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers of the Government of Nepal and the leader of Nepali delegation to the Seventh Conference of the States Parties (CoSP) to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) delivered a country statement on the Conference.

In his statement, Secretary Mr. Gautam felicitated the Chair of the Conference and wished for the successful conclusion of its Seventh session.

He stated that corruption being a global phenomenon poses a major challenge for stability and security and continues to be one of the key elements hindering the attainment of sustainable socioeconomic development of our societies.

While stating that Government of Nepal pursues a policy of zero tolerance on matters of corruption, he apprised the Conference of several legislative and policy measures that the GoN has adopted for its prevention.

The seventh CoSP commenced on 6 November 2017 and is scheduled to end on 10 November 2017. 155 State Parties to the UNCAC and one observer state along with International Organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations are participating in the Conference.

Secretary Mr. Gautam is leading the Nepali delegation to the Conference. H.E. Prakash Kumar Suvedi, Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations in Vienna along with senior officials of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Commission for the Investigation of the Abuse of Authority and the Permanent Mission of Nepal in Vienna are also part of the Nepali delegation.
