His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales called on the Right Honourable Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli at the latter’s official residence in Baluwatar today. During the call on, the Prime Minister appreciated the continued interest and association of the British people, government and institution of monarchy with Nepal. He expressed that the Prince’s keen interests in heritage and nature conservation will help raise wider awareness to Nepal’s cultural and natural heritages in UK and beyond, and thus help promote Nepal as an attractive tourism destination. The HRH Prince expressed solidarity with the earthquake affected families and praised Gurkhas for their exceptional professional service. He also commended Nepal’s efforts to nature conservation.
Later, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Honourable Kamal Thapa hosted a special reception in honour of the visiting Prince and to celebrate bicentenary of Nepal-UK relations. Speaking at the function, Honourable Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, highlighting the importance attached by Nepal to the bicentennial celebration of the historic relations between Nepal and UK, stated that the visit of HRH Prince has further strengthened traditionally warm and close friendship between the two countries. HRH Prince Henry of Wales, praising the resilience and resolve of the Nepalese people in coming out of the devastating earthquake of last year, said that Nepal is now open and safe for business and tourism.
Earlier today, HRH Prince Henry of Wales was accorded a warm welcome, upon his arrival, at the Tribhuvan International Airport by Honourable Minister of State for Federal Affairs and Local Development Ms. Kunti Kumari Shahi.
