Ms. Valerie Julliand presented her Credentials as Resident Coordinator of the United Nations and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme in Nepal to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon’ble Mr. Kamal Thapa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this morning.
After presentation of the Credentials, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon’ble Mr. Thapa and the newly appointed Resident Coordinator Ms. Julliand discussed the relations between Nepal and the United Nations and exchanged views on current political and economic development of Nepal, implementation of the constitution as well as post-earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation works being carried out by Nepal.
Matters regarding the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) process, Sustainable Development Goals and Nepal’s ongoing efforts towards achieving them, and Nepal’s efforts towards graduating from the LDC status by 2022 and the need for a continued cooperation of the United Nations and international community were also figured out during the conversation.
