The Foreign Secretary Mr. Shanker Das Bairagi visited the Office of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) this morning and held bilateral talks with the Vice President for Projects and Regional Cooperation Mr. Sungho Choi.
During the meeting, the Vice President gave a brief introduction on the ongoing and future projects of KOICA as well as assistance for post earthquakes reconstruction and rebuild in Nepal. He expressed that KOICA will consider positively for expanding its support to Nepal in future. On the occasion, the Foreign Secretary expressed happiness on a long, rewarding, fruitful and cooperative partnership between Nepal and the Republic of Korea and appreciated the support and assistance being provided by KOICA for socio-economic development in Nepal. He requested KOICA to assist further for reconstruction of houses and health infrastructures and capacity enhancement of technical manpower for building earthquakes resilient structures. Both sides also discussed on possibilities of cooperation in areas of trade, industry, climate change, water management and in implementing Lumbini Master Plan to develop Lumbini as the World Peace City.
Later in the afternoon, the Foreign Secretary also visited the 31st Korea World Travel Fair started in Seoul from today and observed the Nepal stall. The Embassy of Nepal has been participating the Fair together with Nepal Tourism Board to promote Nepal’s tourism, awaiting revival after the earthquakes last year.
