At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, the Foreign Secretary of Nepal Mr. Shanker Das Bairagi arrived in Seoul today for an official visit to Korea. The visit was a part of regular interaction between two sides.
Foreign Secretary held a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Mr. Lim Sungnam, the first Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today. During the meeting, both sides reviewed the progress on bilateral relations and economic cooperation.
Korea’s contribution in the socio-economic development of Nepal and the need for an enhanced level of assistance especially to support Nepal’s post disaster reconstruction were discussed on the occasion. Both sides agreed on the importance to upgrade the level of bilateral engagement and explored the possibilities to further strengthen cooperation in the sectors of trade, tourism, labour and investment for mutual benefits. Matters related to cooperation in various regional and international forums were also discussed in the meeting.
The Foreign Secretary was accompanied by Mr. Kiran Shakya, Chargé d’ Affaires a.i. and Mr. Prathma Upreti, Second Secretary from the Embassy of Nepal in Seoul along with Mr. Suvanga Parajuli Section Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs whereas the Korean Vice-Minister was accompanied by other high level officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Earlier, in the morning, the Foreign Secretary visited the Embassy of Nepal in Seoul where he was briefed about the present situation and activities of the Embassy.
