The Embassy of Nepal, Bangkok organised an investment promotion programme in Bangkok on 28 April 2017. A large number of businessmen, media persons and representatives of Board of Investment of Thailand, Thai Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Thai Industries, Thai-Nepal Chamber Commerce, Non-Resident Nepali Association, Thailand and Thai Nepali Association participated in the programme.
Welcoming all the participants, H. E. Ambassador Dr. Khaga Nath Adhikari spoke about the opportunities available for investors in Nepal. He said that Nepal has made effective arrangements for security of foreign investment, and that a number of opportunities were present in Nepal. He called upon the business community to help Nepal in its economic development by making investment in Nepal.
Mr. Krishna Shivakriskul, Chairman of Thai-Nepal Chamber of Commerce, made short presentation and shed light on the investment opportunities in Nepal. In his remarks, Mr. Krishna said that Nepal is rich in its untapped natural resources, and called upon all the businessmen to invest in Nepal and benefit from it.
Mr. Khagendra Raj Dhakal, President of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), Thailand, in his remarks, expressed his happiness for organizing this programme in the right time and mentioned about the investment made in Nepal by NRNA so far. He also assured about the increment in NRN’s investment in the future and urged the businessmen present in the programme to think about investing in Nepal.
Addressing the programme, Hon. Dr. Swarnim Wagle, Member of National Planning Commission of Nepal, spoke about the evolution of democratic regime in Nepal and Nepal’s economic situation, shed light on all aspects of investment opportunities in Nepal. He urged participants to invest in Nepal and realise the potentials for the promotion of economic and commercial relations between Nepal and Thailand.
Mr. Maha Prasad Adhikari, Chief Executive Officer of Investment Board of Nepal, made detailed power point presentation on Investment Opportunities in Nepal. In his presentation, he covered various aspects opportunities, including Institutional Arrangement for FDI, Policy Reforms on FDI, Investment Process, Sector Overviews & Investment Opportunities, Projects & Project Ideas, Approved Project to take to the Market, Project Identified for Detail Studies, Project Idea Notes, etc. During the Q & A session Mr. Adhikari also answered the questions raised by the participants.
The programme is believed to have greatly contributed to publicising investment opportunities of Nepal.
