His Excellency the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, who is on the State Visit to Nepal, was conferred today Honourary Degree of Doctor of Letters (D. Litt.) during the Special Convocation Ceremony of Kathmandu University held in Kathmandu to mark the Silver Jubilee of the University’s foundation. The Rt. Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Chancellor of the University, conferred the Degree on His Excellency the President of India.

In his concluding remarks on the occasion, The Rt. Honourable Prime Minister stated that it is a special honour and matter of pride for Kathmandu University to award the Honourary Degree to the towering personality of South Asia, President Shri Pranab Mukherjee.

Similarly, Kathmandu Metropolitan City organized a Civic Reception in honour of His Excellency the President of India today. Receiving the honour, the President of India highlighted the age-old friendly relations between Nepal and India.

His Excellency the Presidentof India offered prayers at the Pashupatinath Temple earlier this morning.

Former President of Nepal, Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and former Prime Minister Honourable Madhav Kumar Nepal called on the visiting President of India today.

In the evening, His Excellency the President of India addressed the seminar organized by India Foundation, New Delhi in collaboration with Neeti Anusthan Pratisthan, Nepal and Nepal Centre for Contemporary Studies, Nepal on the theme of ‘Exploring New Vistas of Nepal-India Relationship.’

Later in the evening, The Rt. Honourable Prime Minister will host dinner in honour of His Excellency the President of India.
