Rt. Hon. President of Nepal Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and His Excellency Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, have exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the People’s Republic of China. The President of Nepal, in the congratulatory message sent to his counterpart today has expressed warm greetings and best wishes to His Excellency the President, the Government and people of the People’s Republic of China.

Rt. Hon. President has stated that the five principles of peaceful co-existence provide a strong foundation of bilateral relationship, and Nepal respects one China policy. The President has added that the Nepalese people hold the Chinese people in high esteem as true and trusted friend, and this has found the best expression during the devastating earthquake that struck Nepal recently. While expressing his happiness over China’s impressive socio-economic progress over the last six decades, Rt. Hon. President has expressed the best wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly people of china.

His Excellency Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, in his congratulatory message sent to Rt. Hon. President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, has extended warm greetings and best wishes, on behalf of the Chinese Government and people as well as on his own, to Rt. Hon. President, the Government and the people of Nepal.

His Excellency the President of the People’s Republic of China has stated that China and Nepal are good neighbours, friends and partners. The President has added that the bilateral relations have steadily developed over past sixty years and the comprehensive cooperative partnership featuring ever-lasting friendship has been established. The President has attached great importance to development of china-Nepal relations and has expressed his readiness to work with the President of Nepal for more fruitful results benefitting both countries and peoples. The President of the People’s Republic of China has expressed best wishes for everlasting friendship between the two countries.

Rt. Hon. Prime Minister of Nepal Mr. Sushil Koirala and His Excellency Mr. Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, have also exchanged congratulatory messages today on the same occasion. Rt. Hon. Prime Minister of Nepal, in the congratulatory message sent to his counterpart of the People’s Republic of China has expressed warmest greetings and hartiest congratulations to the Premier, the Government and people of the People’s Republic of China.

Rt. Hon. Prime Minister has stated that Nepal-China relations have been nurtured, strengthened and consolidated by mutual respect, understanding, trust and friendship for mutual benefit. The Prime Minister has also expressed his happiness that Nepal and China remain ideal neighbours and have been working closely on issues of common interests at regional and international forums. He further added that China is Nepal’s trustworthy neighbour, an intimate friend and a reliable development partner. He underlined that Nepal unequivocally remains committed to “One China Policy” and do not allow any hostile activities on its soil against its neighbours. While deeply appreciating Chinese assistance in its development efforts, Chinese humanitarian support in the aftermath of Nepal’s earthquake and Chinese commitment to substantial support to Nepal’s reconstruction and rebuilding, the Prime Minister has expressed his hope that Nepal would benefit from China’s phenomenal progress and prosperity.

Referring to recent political developments in Nepal, the Prime Minister has said that political parties are working in a spirit of national unity and reconciliation to conclude the peace process and have a constitution promulgated through the Constituent Assembly. The Prime Minister has expressed his readiness to work with his counterpart for harnessing the vast potential of the bilateral relationship.

His Excellency Mr. Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, in his congratulatory message sent to Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Mr. Sushil Koirala, has extended warm greetings and best wishes, on behalf of the Chinese Government and people as well as his own.

His Excellency the Premier has mentioned that China and Nepal have always developed relationships on the basis of Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence and have set a good example in building equal and friendly relations between small and large neighbours. The Premier has added that the Chinese side consistently supports the efforts of Nepali people in maintaining independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity and highly appreciates Nepal’s adherence to one-China policy. He has expressed his commitment to continuously upgrading China-Nepal comprehensive cooperative partnership featuring ever-lasting friendship to a higher level.

Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mahendra Bahadur Pandey and His Excellency Mr. Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China have also exchanged congratulatory messages. In his congratulatory message, Hon. Pandey has stated that mutual trust, great understanding and close cooperation constitute the hallmarks of all-weather warm friendship and strong relations between the two countries. He further mentioned that significant progress has been made in broadening and deepening our bilateral understanding and cooperation since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1955.

China is one of the most important contributors to Nepal’s socio-economic development. The spontaneous support extended by the Chinese Government to the rescue, relief and recovery efforts in the aftermath of Nepal’s recent earthquake as well as the Chinese pledge to the reconstruction, rehabilitation and rebuilding of Nepal has deeply moved the Nepali people, the Minister has stated.

In his message, His Excellency Mr. Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal. Highlighting the long history of friendship between Nepal and China, H.E. Mr. Wang Yi has stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations the two countries have promoted cooperation in various fields based on mutual respect, support, equality and mutual benefit. Recalling his participation in the International Conference on Nepal’s Reconstruction and his pledge of support, he has also expressed his assurance to assist Nepal in its rebuilding efforts.

Hon. Pandey is also hosting a reception on 1 August 2015 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
